I recently called Jim Mathias to congratulate him on his victory in the District 38 State Senate race. I am also in the process of contacting many friends and supporters who have been so supportive to me and my family during the last year as we vigorously campaigned throughout Worcester, Wicomico and Somerset counties. It has been an honor and a privilege to take part and compete in this election. Though I wish the outcome was different, I truly believe we influenced and helped shape the agenda for the Eastern Shore with our ideas, our positions, and with the honest and assertive nature of our campaign. Our campaign was made possible by the hard work and dedication of many people who love the Eastern Shore and the strength that god gives us everyday.

Voting has begun!

Its close to one week until the election and our pace has skyrocketed. This weekend we were out and about in all three counties, and we will finish the election strongly!

Voters are very responsive toward electing me to bring my years of business leadership experience into the State Senate. They know job creation is my top priority and that I’m the most qualified candidate to achieve the needed changes to state government.

We’ve continued to meet new supporters throughout the counties and as a campaign we’re hitting our stride.

We’ve been out in the district meeting voters throughout the past year, and it feels like voters are even more enthusiastic for the opportunity to cast their ballots.

Great time in Somerset County and Snow Hill!

I'm very happy with the support I recieve from residents throughout the district.

Yesterday my team had a great time going door-to-door in Snow Hill and Princess Anne, and I had a great time meeting voters during the joint Chamber of Commerce forum in Crisfield.

We're working at the Ocean City elections, and walking throughout the district today. I hope to see you out!

We've got a couple radio interviews set up and then I'm contacting voters for the rest of today. I have the easiest job in the world! Voters know District 38 needs someone with significant private-sector experience to proactively address the problems created by the progressives in Annapolis.

What a Great Saturday!

Thank you to everyone who joined me going door-to-door throughout District 38 yesterday.

I met some wonderful supporters at Holly Grove Christian School in the morning. What a great fair! I enjoyed I meeting people on their doorsteps in Princess Anne, and at the Fruitland Volunteer Fire Company's Crab & Shrimp Feast.

Today's rain is holding me back from being out-and-about, but it's difficult to complain about precipitation after the Summer we had. If you have a chance today to make phone calls to folks on behalf of my campaign it will be very helpful.

I'm looking forward to a busy afternoon. Perhaps I'll see you in Salisbury, Ocean Pines, or maybe Snow Hill.

31 Days Until the Election

Hello Everyone,

September was a whirlwind month for the campaign. Many folks have become highly active with our efforts and we're contacting hundreds of voters daily!

Thank you to everyone putting our bumper stickers on your cars, wearing our buttons and shirts when you're out-and-about, and telling your friends about my candidacy.

Our message of less taxes, less state spending, and fewer regulations is well-received in our communities, and I need more people to spread the word during the next month.

You should notice our new literature in your communities as we continue to go door-to-door and I think you'll be excited by our upcoming advertisements.

We must continue to let people know that District 38 needs proactive leadership and private-sector experience to change Annapolis. I've been thrilled by the support provided by folks such as Senator Riley, Senator Stoltzfus, Governor Ehrlich, and Andy Harris. I'm working hard to spread that message and I need your help to succeed!

As the summer winds down, we can see that job creation and the general concern about the economy are what people really want to talk about. Unemployment claims have risen again which prompts questions about the effectiveness of the government stimulus plan. I will continue to point out that without a friendlier business climate here on the shore, using government spending to prop up the economy is short sighted. The same can be said of the 2007 tax increase package that was invented and now owned by the democratic power brokers in Annapolis. Cleary, the combined effects of the increase in the sales tax, income tax and corporate tax, have hurt the shore and cost us jobs.

Our small business operators have been hit the hardest. It is an election year, so you will here all politicians claim to want to help the poultry industry, the waterman, the small business person etc….The fact remains, if you own, operate or work for a small business, a farm, on the water, or in the service sector, our state government has made it tougher with added regulation, increased fees and higher taxes, especially here on the Lower eastern shore.

If elected, I will be proactive, vocal and work hard to address these problems. The long term solutions need to include policies that encourage long term sustainable economic development, more efficient government and the understanding that we compete for jobs with neighboring states.

The first step to making changes would be to elect people who understand that business is not the enemy and job creation is the beginning to long term recovery.

July 17-23 What a great week

We just ended another great week of traveling through our region for the District 38 State Senate Seat. I was delighted to celebrate 30 years of Coastal Hospice Care last Saturday at an event in Eden held at Tom Sheltons Bordeleu Vineyards and Winery. A wonderful event to support an important organization that serves so many families here on the Shore.

Sunday we took the day off the campaign trail to celebrate my daughter Mary’s 9th birthday. Fun was had by all. We spent Wednesday with 6,000 of our closest friends and supporters in Crisfield at the Tawes Crabfeast and Clambake. It was hot just like it should be.

Thursday evening The Worcester County Republican Central Committee honored retiring Senator Lowell Stoltzfus. Kendel Ehrlich, Lew Riley Andy Harris, Carolyn Elmore and several others made the evening very special with heartfelt testimonials to Lowell’s many years of public service and his dedication to faith, family and friends. This was a really nice night filled with emotion and good memories.

Friday I gathered with other supporters of The Lower Eastern Shore United Way to recognize the record breaking generosity they received this year to help make so many lives better. The United Way of the Eastern Shore is one of the best run and most effective non-profit organizations I have seen. They truly make our community a better place to live. It is easy to understand why their support is so strong. Thanks again to all who came by our tent Wednesday during the Crabfeast in Crisfield. I really appreciate hearing your thoughts, concerns and ideas. I listen and learn more everyday.

We have had a great time campaigning around the District this past week. Saturday was particularly fun as we attended the Crab Feast in Fairmount to support their local Volunteer Fire Company. I met many new friends, connected with several old friends and also had a great time with my family. Being in the company of a lot of good people, with good food and cold beverages on a hot July afternoon, well it just doesn’t get much better than that. Life is good!

I hope everyone is having a great July 4th Weekend and enjoying this great weather.
During the past several months I have been traveling throughout the three counties that make up District 38. As I talk, and more importantly listen to the citizens, I am hearing about their desire for a different approach in Annapolis. The good people of the Lower Eastern Shore want an end to wasteful spending, they want a real effort made to lower taxes and they want more focus on job creation and economic development. They do not want more government control.

As a candidate for The Maryland State Senate, I offer the skill set, the experience and a proven track record of creating good jobs that will make me an effective State Senator in the future. I will work to create a better business climate for Maryland small business operators and all the hard working families throughout the entire Eastern Shore. I will fight to lower the tax burden on Marylanders and I’ll use my experience from the private sector to make Maryland State Government more efficient and less wasteful.

As a man said to me last week, “We need some new people who really understand how to get things done, not the same politicians playing the same old politics!” I shook his hand and said I agree.

Another busy week of meeting and greeting the citizens around the shore. Played at the Annual Salisbury University Golf Classic, spoke at the Wicomico Republican Womens Luncheon, spoke at the Salisbury Lions Club Meeting at Adam's Ribs, conducted the Ocean City Economic Development Committee meeting, attended the UMES Faculty Appreciation Luncheon and stopped by Springfest. It is so wonderful to see so many supporters of the campaign.

Hope meet many more supporters this weekend. I will be attending the Relay for Life at Frontier Town, Princess Anne Streetfest and Jazzfest in Berlin. Looking forward to seeing my son get ready for prom on Saturday night and spending Sunday with my family for Mother's Day. Have a great weekend

I had a wonderful time meeting so many supporters this weekend. On Friday we went to Family Fun Night at Ocean City Elementary and then to the Republican Convention in Ocean City. On Saturday, after a wonderful breakfast at Laytons, we went to the Flower Fest in Pittsville, the Loyalty Day Celebration at the VFW #2996 in Powellville, Play It Safe at the YMCA in Salisbury, the Crab Soup Cookoff in Ocean City, Maryland and Bordeleau Vineyards for the Nabb Center.
On Sunday, I attended an event to help raise funds for a boardwalk bench in memory of Craig Sutka. Later that day, I was honored and humbled to present the Governors Citation to the Eagle Court of Honor-Cameron Spencer Gardner, Cody Mitchell McClellan and Daniel Wilkinson. I truly appreciate all of your help and support for the campaign. It was wonderful to see so many supporters.

Had a great weekend attending Arbor Day at Northside Park, The House by the Sea Gala, The Salisbury Festival, The Lincoln Day Dinner in Somerset County, The Pocomoke Volunteer Fire Department Dedication Ceremony, and Amerian Cancer Society Relay for Life.
